"Snowmaggedon" DC 2010
So I'm ready for a vacation to the Keys or Hawaii but since that clearly isn't happening, we are embracing the snow for umpteenth time is this "bizarre" DC winter (or so they say). The skies cleared and snow stopped this afternoon just in time for a pretty sunset so we packed the camera up and ran outside. We didn't have time to make it very far before the sun set so the pics are of stuff most of you have seen before but they show the snow. We estimate it to be 2+ feet around here. It came up to my thighs and even then I think I was standing on packed snow. It is a wetter/heavier snow than the last blizzard or like the news channel likes to call it "heart attack snow" because it is so heavy to shovel. The snow was coming down fast and furiously for a good 24hrs and we enjoyed laughing at the SUVs who thought they could drive on it spinning their wheels from inside the apartment. The snow plows are out in full force now, but they haven't reached the asphalt yet. Ok, that's about it. We may venture to the city tomorrow and will update more pics if we do. Until then you can enjoy today's by clicking here. The pictures of the bird prints are from the "warm-up" snow fall last weekend--when does spring come???? Looking forward to the Cherry Blossom Festival!

Hey, loved the pictures. That snow is amazing. Looking forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeleteWe are suppose to get snow tomorrow...it's been a few months since we had more than 2 inches. We like laughing at the SUV's too! You might be able to come to CO for some warmth later this week. Enjoy the snow.
ReplyDeleteMaybe springtime in DC will be beautiful this year,if it ever gets here. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think we are supposed to get a little more Tuesday so I guess that's what you guys are getting in CO moving over. We have learned that the "blizzards" come from the gulf and the stuff from you guys breaks up over the App Mtns and isn't as bad so I'm glad it's coming from your way.
ReplyDeleteNow that is alot of snow!! i don't believe I have ever seen that much snow! i have to admit I am not sure that I ever want too! Mom
ReplyDeleteOh Gingy March is the snowiest month in Colorado and I believe your grandaughter would like to build a snowman with you!
ReplyDeleteRyan and Steph the snow storm in CO is nothing...we have 1/2 inch. So you might be not getting anything later this week.
Enjoy the snow while it lasts and make a great snowman!
Hopefully you are right, Jennifer. They issued a new winter storm warning for Tues and Wed and GW canceled work and class tomorrow...I wonder if they will take away spring break if we miss this whole week.
